A late meditation session today, so I prepared the traditional “2 and one” light meal of the tea ceremony, 2 small dishes and a soup. I like to use mokuzuke dishes I have made to hold the wagashi Japanese sweet, that helps cut the bitter taste of matcha, after you have taken a sip, with a burst of sweetness. The matcha will help to keep me awake as I sit in meditation, just as it did over a thousand years ago for the chan/zen monks in Tang dynasty China……
